Investing in the Thanos Effect for 2013!
Iron Man #55 (1972) marked the 1st appearance of the mad villain Thanos. A brief cameo at the end of the Avengers movie which set Thanos up as the future antagonist for the team in the upcoming sequel, immediately sent the back issue value soaring. Within a week of the film's release, high grade copies of the initially undervalued Bronze Age Iron Man #55 were selling for 25-50% above Overstreet Guide value. I believe there is money to be made (short term) in this back issue game. As comic book inspired movies look to the original source material for potential plots, key undervalued back issues are just waiting to be sold at premium prices. Herein are some of my back issue speculation pics for 2013! |
The List:
Justice League of America Issue(s) #183-185: A potential scoop in December 2012 by Latino Review recently revealed that the Justice League movie script is drawing heavily from the 1980's Gerry Conway written Justice League/Justice Society of America team-up against the villain Darkseid. In October, issue # 183 was being sold on eBAY at the "Buy It Now" price of $1.65. As of January 06 2013 the same issue in the same condition was sold for $19.59. The Justice League movie is not hitting the big screen until 2015. Insanity!! |
